7 Month Update

Calvin is officially 7 months old....it has gone so fast! Here are some of his latest developments:

Sitting: Yesterday Calvin starting sitting up on his own! He doesn't really know what to do once he is sitting, but he seems to like it okay. He occasionally falls backwards, so we are still close to catch him. =)

Seeing/ Patching: We think Calvin is gaining vision in his left eye! At least, he seems to have a look of recognition with his left eye (like in this picture). Calvin is also more tolerant of the patch that he used to be. We are anxious to hear what Dr. Wallace has to say at the next appointment on 8/11. We've been patching for half of Calvin's awake time each day (about 4-5 hours--or as close to it as we can get). It had been a real struggle for a while because he kept "cheating." This new eye patch is much better! We don't have to adjust it as much because it is more his size...what took us so long?!

Gnawing: Ahh, I have been trying to catch this moment for weeks. He is showing off his razor sharp teeth. He chews on everything...toys, fingers, noses...

Lifting: So, Calvin is using his arms to lift his body when he is on his belly. Maybe he'll start to crawl soon! Here is a video of him hanging out with Daddy during tummy time. He was lifting himself like never before.

Growing:
Calvin is still under the 3rd %ile in weight at 14 lbs 10 oz. He is "tracking" on the growth chart, but just under the curve. He seems healthy and happy to us, so maybe that is just how God made him. His height and head circumference are in the 50th %ile, so I think he'll just be long and lean like his Daddy =).

Sleeping: 10-11ish hours a night! Yeah!

Pooping: Just kidding...it is a big part of Calvin's life right now, but I'm sure you don't really care to know the details.

  2. He get to be more fun everyday, I am sure. Thank you for sharing him with all of us, though I would really like to hold him and play with him more than just seeing the great pictures and reading your clever commentary.

  3. Interesting, Calvin's head is proportionally larger than his body... the apple doesnt fall far from the tree.

  4. The picture of Cal's face on his tummy above (close up) resembles Sam's soo much! It's not just the proportions, Sam! As he grows, he will start resembling other family members, too, like his Daddy and Mommy and Grandma's and Grandpa, too! Cherish your turn while you can, Sam. : }
