Wake up, sleepy head!

Luke is such a sweet, sleepy guy. It is so hard to wake him for feedings when this little face curls up on my chest. But, after being exhausted following two nights of no sleep and some wise words from the doctor, I've been torturing Luke's sweet little naked body with a cold, wet washcloth, pinching his toes and flicking his feet to keep him awake for full feedings. Life is much better, and I Luke still sleeps all the time...thankfully, now at night, too!

Bringin home baby Luke...

Today Kelly and Luke came home from the hospital.  On a sad note, we saw 28 school buses on the 15 minute drive home, and Cal and Jack weren't with us - would have probably been the highlight of their lives.  Anyway, when we brought Jack home from the hospital as a baby Cal wanted nothing to do with him, so we were really interested to see how this would play out.  I think it's safe to say no one predicted this...

Sorry for the length of the videos, but we wanted to capture all or most of it.

Luke quickly made himself at home...

We're so thankful for our three little buddies.

Sick

We have been feeling sick for a while now, but it has been bitter sweet. I have had some good uninterrupted time with the boys before Luke comes.  Normally I would be preparing to tutor this afternoon,  Jack would be asleep right now, and Calvin would be awake. Instead, Jack can't sleep, Calvin can, and I am laying on the couch watching Jack do this.....

Not sure what he is trying to accomplish, but I love this sweet boy (and I'm pretty sure this proves Jack is right foot dominant).

Contact Out

We have had a really smooth couple of months with Cal's contact. He loves being the big guy and not fighting while we put in and take out his lens. I am so thankful! Apparently Calvin has been making this process look like a lot of fun because Jack always lays down next to him for his turn. Usually Calvin is as amused by this as we are, but as you can see, Cal was not happy with jack encroaching on his territory this morning!

We're Gonna Miss This

Jack, Cal, and I have been taking a lot of bike rides these last few months! I love it, and so do the boys! Cal scoots along on his little bike fast enough for me to coast next to him with Jack relaxing in the seat behind me. I've been really impressed with Calvin's stamina....we'll go 2 1/2 miles or so, and he does great! Ok, not always....I tried to push him to 3 miles a few weeks ago and he cried about the last 1/2 mile home since he was so tired.

I am really looking forward to meeting Luke in a couple weeks, but I have been lamenting the end of some things that will be difficult with a newborn.  For some reason, these bike rides together are near the top of the list. After Luke is 6 months or so we can safely hook a trailer on to my bike, but for the next chapter, we'll be walking with the stroller and playing in the front yard instead of riding to the Pineywood or the Office Park.

The next time we are cruising around together, Jack will probably be the one on this little red bike, and Cal will finally have his long-awaited bike with pedals!

When we pull into the garage after a ride, Jack usually shouts, "Home!" and Calvin always says (with much feeling), "That was a good bike ride!" I think I'm going to miss that part the most.

Airplane

An "oreplane." Of course you'll need a shopping cart, a dump truck, a popper, and bike for your trip.

The Dan and Cal Face

I captured perfectly the face that Cal and Dan (when he was younger) make when they want so badly to smile but don't want to let others see it. This is what dan's "first day of school" picture looks like... I'm sure when the day comes, Cal will be making this face with his sweet little backpack, too!

Jack is usually happy to show his pleasure, though! :)

The Best Kind of Chaos

Amanda came to visit with Mac and Corrie this week. It is so sweet for all of us to be together. Last time they came, we ended up losing my keys with all 4 kids on the other side of Durham and washing 2 soiled car seats all in one night...always pretty laughable.

So far today we have escaped with a good trip to the park where Jack and Corrie got to see some geese. Calvin and Corrie were thrilled to watch a little Curious George together after nap.

Even if we end up adding some chaos to the list, being with our friends is worth it all!
